Workshop: Childbirth, the Interpreter's Perspective
A 2-part workshop delivered by Mara Ricoy, Birth Educator and interpreter, covering the language and interpretation aspects of childbirth.
This 2-part workshop is tailored towards interpreters who already work in or wish to work in the specific field of childbirth. Mara Ricoy, Birth Educator and interpreter, aims to provide you with a deeper understanding of the birth process from the interpreter's perspective.
Part one - 17th April 2023 at 6-8pm BST
emphasises the importance of language in childbirth, covering topics such as pregnancy, common situations, antenatal care providers, special situations, and other considerations.
Part two - 24th April 2023 at 6-8pm BST
focuses on different birthing methods, including physiological birth, induction and assisted labor, caesarean section, and postnatal care. As well as the special situations that can arise in these settings.
All attendees will receive a Childbirth Glossary gifted by Mara as well as a copy of the presentation.
Recordings will be made available for a period of 30 days, giving you a chance to catch it if you cannot attend live and even to watch it again at your own pace and let it land deeper.
